Eddie’s Hungry Caterpillar Party
Age: 01
Theme: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Our son Eddie, had a Very Hungry Caterpillar Party at home for his 1st Birthday.

The Cake

There were 2 cakes. The one on the left is just watermelon - a very large watermelon with the top and the bottom cut off and the skin removed, then covered in cream, with a fondant leaf. The one on the right in a mud cake, from a cake maker, which I re-iced and made a fondant caterpillar.
The Food

We did the food starting from the cake, in the exact order, with little cards with the images from the book. We also did caterpillar fairy bread and melon caterpillars. There were also bottles of water with personalised labels.
The Games

Because the majority of children were under 2, the only activity we did was a hand print poster. It is a really nice keepsake.
The Supplies

We made little caterpillars as the favours. Because the party was around Christmas time, it was easy to get packs of green and red pom pom. We also printed labels and put them around bubble bottles.
Top Party Tip
The idea of the food was a big hit and it saved on food prep as it was all easy.
Favourite Present
The surprise watermelon cake was a massive hit, and great for all the little kids at the party.
